Volunteering Opportunities
Our Museum is run solely by volunteers, and what a brilliant job they do!
Volunteers make a huge contribution to Oxford Bus Museum. Consequently, they’re well cared for with subsidised lunches, unlimited cups of tea/coffee and biscuits, on-site parking and protected by our Safeguarding and H&S Policies.
We’re continually looking to pass on the old-timers’ transferrable skills to newer and younger members, so get in touch Now!
Who Can Volunteer?
Volunteering is for everyone. Whether you are volunteering to learn and develop new skills, to give back to the community, or just to keep busy and meet new people, Oxford Bus Museum is a great place to be. We’re from all walks of life sharing a wide variety of skill sets, and personalities! You don’t need to be a bus or classic car enthusiast to enjoy working alongside us, just a willingness to get stuck in and enjoy one or more of the many roles required to continue our success. Give some of your time, knowledge or experience, and you will gain so much in return.
When Can I Volunteer?
Now!! Our normal 'working days' are Sundays, Wednesdays and most Bank Holiday Mondays, but it’s for you to decide when and how often you volunteer, we’re totally flexible.
How Long For?
No fixed period, but it could be linked to the duration of an activity or volunteer role if you so wished.
How do I Volunteer?
You can pop in to see us at the Museum during normal opening hours for an initial chat and tour with our Volunteer Co-Ordinator Paul Statham, or another volunteer if he’s not available. Alternatively, you can plan ahead and contact Paul by email: Groups@OxfordBusMuseum.org.
All Volunteers are required to have full Oxford Bus Museum membership.
We’re easily accessible using public transport; by the S7 bus or GWR train. The Museum is just a 2-minute walk from Hanborough Railway Station, 5 minutes from the bus stop. On-site parking is normally available for all volunteers.
